A sad day. The ridiculous white sunglasses are no longer with us.
Basically every time I have worn those sunglasses since I bought them in March, I have chuckled because of how silly they are. Goodbye loyal friend. RIP.
The first day I got to Vernazza it was hot so I got to lay out! This was my view from the perch on a big rock alongside the harbor. (Note: new sunglasses)
A return to the failed attempts at the self-portrait along the 5 town hike.
Oh good lord, the neverending line of Germans who were in a hiking group together along the trail. I got stuck behind them and they were slooooooow. Foor goodness sake. Finally I just stopped at aglorious vista and stared out over the Mediterranean for like 15 minutes and started up again, hoping I had given them enought time to get far ahead of me. I caught them in a few minutes, but thankfully they were stopping for some weinerschnitzel or something and I scooted past.
The day I hiked was cloudy/sunny/cloudy/sunny and I took this picture while I was listening to the glorious end to track 2 from Come On Feel The Illinois! It was actaully really cool.
So overall Cinque Terre was a good few days. I really got to relax and unwind a bit. I slept in every day; lazily made my way into town, or whatever. Did some hiking, reading. Took the train to Genova one day and figured out some train details. Genova is easily skipped, FYI. Don't waste your time there if you go to Italy. Ummm.. what else? Oh I met a few girls from the States. One is Ann Marie, frmo Seattle. Basically she and I have the same story - got restless, craved a change, thought about just relocating, then decided to blow her life savings from Sept to Nov travelling. She is spending her 2 months in Italy. Actually it was really cool to meet her because she loves Jesus too. She met the Lord at Malibu YL camp when she was in high school. Aww. I had been craving some deeper conversation about the Lord. It was nice to be with another believer for a bit. Go get 'em Ann Marie!
