A groggy Erin Hatcher emerges from slumber at the McLeansville, NC Hampton Inn at 7am, Wednesday, February 24th. She pads her way down to the lobby with hair piled on top of her head whilst clad in yoga pants, thermal shirt and dress shoes because of course, she forgot to pack 'non-work' shoes for her business trip. Erin has few words in the mornings. As she loads her bagel into the bagel slicer at the continental breakfast, she happens to glance right and a familiar-looking man is in her line of sight, filling a glass with juice. Double take. With mouth gaping Erin incredulously says, "Brian?" to aforementioned man. Erin is met with a blank stare. She quickly proceeds to remind "Brian" of their acquaintance, "Erin Hatcher. I worked with Molly at LLS." Instant recognition floods Brian's face and a smile appears. "Riiiiiiiiiiight. Hi there!" (beat followed by confusion) "What are you doing here?"
A 2 minute or so exchange of pleasantries follows. Erin, the narcissist, grins and finds herself pleased that even in the most obscure of places, she has run into yet another person that she knows. Add this to the list.
Love it.
And I love dirt roads in McLeansville.
