Oh how my little heart loves Sevastopol and cannot believe I was lucky enough to spend (count them) FOUR consecutive springs in this treasure. Those weeks of living in homes with Russian families seem like magic sort of, in retrospect. Jeez, I can appreciate the significance of timing even more now as I look back... For an American to live in a Russian home for two weeks only 7 years after the fall of communism in the former Soviet Union... That's wild. I am so very thankful. Thank you Cindy & Avie! And Barb & Nancy! And O'Neil! And Mike Lehman! (Mike and Ikes, anyone?) And to Big Sasha, Artiom, My Sasha, Yulia, that other Sasha, and that other Sasha, and that one guy who always said in his VERY thick accent, "Excuse me, I would like to tell you an anecdote" --- THANK YOU for sharing your lives, your city, your homes and for the HEAPS of patience you offered to very loud, embarrassing American high school students. What a gift you gave.
(I have got to find pics of Nina and me from our trip, scan them, and put them up here. Hilarious)
