My Brother the Compass

Everyone needs a moral compass.  At times when I am a real jerk, it's nice to have people to call like my brother Ryan.

Today's exchange on the phone around 5 o'clock in the afternoon...

E: "Ryan, I need you to tell me not to send this letter I've written to the police officer who gave me a ticket 2 weeks ago.  I've addressed the envelope and everything."
R: "What does the letter say?"
E: "Here goes:
'Dear Officer Burkett,

Thanks for nothing.
You stink.  Take Care.

- A disgruntled citizen who had to pay a really dumb ticket
(Next time try not to read off of note cards while ticketing someone.)'

R: "You cannot send that."
E: "Ryan!"
R: "Erin, if you send that it will ruin his day."
E: (indignant) "He ruined my day!"
R: "Yeah but you were an irresponsible adult."
E: (resigned sigh) "I know.  I cannot send it."

Ya know, sometimes I think I've come so far, and then this.  It's been a real winner of a week so far.
