Come On Ride The Train

I like to get up early with Jon Horne to have breakfast and coffee before he leaves for work.  I've learned the Today Show on NBC starts at 7am.  This morning around 7:20am I noticed they were starting a story that would have increased my sometimes-fear of flying, so I quickly grabbed the remote and changed the channel.  I stumbled upon a 1970's television show with a tall, handsome black man interviewing a then young, doe-eyed Sister Sledge.  Curious, head tilted slightly to the right with furrowed brow, "What is this?"

What happened next was awesome.  Suddenly the cameras panned to a large stage filled with amazing dancers, all dressed in contrasting outfits: some silly (white unitard with legwarmers, spiked heels, and glittery headband) and some normal (khakis and button down).  Disco music started thumping and these people danced like there was no tomorrow.  Particularly mesmerizing was the tall gentleman balancing a basketball on his wrist and forearm while moving his body as only a Soul Train dancer could.  Soul Train, the television show was Soul Train!  Nothing like watching amazing dancers and disco from the comfort of my bathrobe and leather chair at 7am.  Nice.  I'll take a one-way ticket to anywhere on the Soul Train, thank you very much.
