Pensacola...

Has lots to offer.  Jon Horne and I are pretty much in super-like with our place, neighborhood, and riding our beach cruisers all over town.  And as if the great bay front, cool downtown, weekend festivals, and plethora of seedy BINGO halls were not enough, Pensacola has just upped itself in my book once more.

How?

With the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra offering $5 admission to their Saturday matinee dress rehearsals, that's how.  A perfect fall day in the historic Saegner Theater ... great!  Thanks, Carey Mottet for the company.

Visits to the symphony, theater, or ballet always bring a rush of Grandmother memories to the fore of my little brain.  Grandmommy Graf used to dress me up and take me all around town to performances when I was growing up.  We'd visit Norfolk's Chrysler Hall and The Wells Theater, as well as The Virginia Beach Pavillion for the yearly Nutcracker Performance.  I thought of her today.  And cried a little.  The sweet tears of remembrance came during the 2nd movement of Beethoven's 5th Symphony.    This month, it's been six years since her death.  Hard to believe.  I am so grateful for that nutty, independent lady who was always so committed to my mother, and to me. Lila Riggs Graf, Yow!
